Borko's Media Campaign...

Dear friends, and Borko lovers...We have updated you all with the plans that we have, to bring Justice for Borko, so you all have a good idea of what our journey entails...
However, we intend this to be just the beginning!!
Ultimately, our primary objectives are to have the eviction notice cancelled, and Borko to live in peace, without more beatings from irate villagers...

The Media Campaign that we are implementing during our journey, involves many specific things that we need to accomplish. First and foremost, to interview both Dr. Litov and also his veterinarian, who first examined little Borko...The good Doctor first saw Borko, when he was a little stray puppy. He was lying on the ground, crying in pain, as he dragged his broken body across the floor, having been beaten so badly, his spine was broken. Dr Litov scooped Borko up in his arms, and took him to the veterinary centre in Plovdiv.

So we are travelling to Plovdiv, to visit the veterinary centre and staff, to get their views on not only Borkos case, but for the many animals they treat on a daily basis in Bulgaria..Those beaten and abused animals...
We are also trying to engage in interviews with both locals and municipal officers, including the Major of Selcha. Also, we intend to speak with the Bulgarian President himself, or a high ranking aid.

We will also be visiting a large animal shelter, to get the views from the staff and kennel workers. Obviously we will be taking a lot of video footage, which will be edited for final viewing, once we arrive back home...

Basically, all our plans are designed to highlight Borko's story to the World, and the situation regarding stray animals being looked upon as vermin. Our main argument is the fact that dogs are not vermin! They have been companion animals for millenia. They have both served, and stood faithfully by the side of mankind for Centuries. To consider them vermin, is an injustice to the species!

We are also asking the relevant authorities to implement a National Spay-Neutering Programme for Owned Pets, which will stop indiscriminate breeding, which often results in future strays on the streets of Bulgaria. The authorities have tried to capture strays, and implement neuterings, but the programme was...lets just say it wasn't high on the agenda! However, although strays DO breed, this is not the root of the problem...The problem lies in indiscriminate breeding, and the abandonment of these animals in the future...Also, the general sense of indifference show, and lack of compassion

So basically, we have much to do, and so many tasks to work through in a short space of time...This is why we need the assistance of a professional Camera-Person, with a high definition top of the range film camera, to document every aspect of our journey. The camerman involved, has been working on animal welfare related causes for many years, and has a great deal of experience in such cases, and we consider it an honour, to have him onboard..

We also have a translator joining us, and 'special guests' (names I cannot divulge...yet!)...
Peter, our cameraman on this Media Campaign, has very kindly offered his services for free. You must remember that people like Peter work hard, travelling throughout the World, to make their way in life, and to give up his work time to such a project, is something we must all be truly grateful for! The same applies to our 'special guests'...

Personally I would gladly sleep in a tent, and if I were able, I would glady WALK from England to Bulgaria, in order to help Borko and Dr. Litov! Seriously!
However, due to the nature and timeframe, I cannot do any of this alone, and neither can Michelle at K9-Rescue, nor Gavin at Wetnose Animal Aid. We are all non-profit organisations, who receive no government funding, and therefore we have to rely on wonderful generous folks like yourselves...

So although I am unable to give you a full insight into all our plans for this journey (purely for safety reasons), it will all become evident once our mission gets underway. Then you will all see why we have to ask for your continued help...
So please, even if it's only £1 or $1..the amount is not important, as every single penny helps.. MANY THANKS.
Gary Edwards - Norton Animal Rescue Foundation.
